Weekly Crafting Tip #3

Glue guns!

The biggest problem i have found with glue guns is stringing hot glue across the finished project when I glue the last spot. Most the time, sadly, this cant be prevented, but don't trow your project out the window and start over right away, sometimes it can be fixed with a little magic! When you are crafting with nonporous materials, such as glass, metal, and most craft wood, its easy to simply wait for the glue to harden, peel it away and start over. But for the more uncooperative materials, like felt, paper, cotton balls and most fabrics, fixing the mistake is a little more difficult in these cases, you can ether wait for it to dry and try to snip it off with sharp scissors or resoften soaked-in glue by pressing the hot tip of the glue gun against it. ( Make sure your glue gun is working properly though, because if its not that could just make your problem worse.)

Weekly Crafting Tip #2

When you have a new project or a you changed a few things on an old one, you don't need to keep a sample of your finished craft anymore. Take a picture! Download it to your computer, describe it, save it to a file with all your other crafting projects and you will always have it for future reference. (You can also edit it on photoshop, picnik.com or all sorts of other programs out there to make it look more professional and you can also print it them all out and scrap book them to show off to your friends, and skip digging threw the packed craft closet) Think of all the extra space!

Weekly Craft Tip #1

This is one mistake I have made a hundred times before... After you get your sewing machine ready to go but before you actually start on your craft project, practice with scrap pieces from you project first (include batting if you're using batting) to be sure that the tension is correct for the layers and the fabrics you will be using on your craft. It only takes a few minutes, compared to the ridiculous amount of time it takes to rip out unwanted seams that are too tight or too loose and start all over. Try it :)
